Born into a family of professional cosmetologists, Christen began her career at a very young age as an assistant at a high end salon. She was licensed in cosmetology by the age of 18 and her own boss before the age of 25. Today, Christen works as a freelance hairstylist specializing in extensions and bridal styling. She has an extraordinary amount of experience in all color techniques and most color products, as well as the latest and most fashionable haircuts and styling techniques."I've always been creative and artistic and had a talent for making people feel wonderful about the way they look. What separates me from most stylists is that I listen to what YOU want done to your hair and achieve it. If you have no particular direction, my suggestions almost always create the most desired appearance. Compliments on my work are so frequent that they have become expected. Clients have told me that most hairdressers do what THEY think will look good, which can leave the clients disappointed and uncomfortable with their appearance. I work with you to help you find the BEST you!"In her early 20's, Christen did her share of modeling and enjoyed it, but she has a greater passion for doing hair. Your questions about hair extensions answered:FUSION OR INDIVIDUAL EXTENSIONS:Q:HOW ARE THEY ATTACHED TO YOUR HAIR?A:With this method small strands of extension hair are attached one by one to small sections of your own hair using the heat fusing method with Keratin Protein waxes and polymers. (a dry conditioner that is melted then hardens)Q:How Long Do They Last?A:Individual extensions generally last 3 1/2 to 6 months depending on care and how quickly your hair growsQ:CAN THEY DAMAGE MY HAIR?A:If the extensions are placed in the hair correctly, there should be no damage at all.However, with extension types that are bonded to your hair, there is a greater chance of damage than with pieces that are simply clipped or sewn in. but once again if you're having a professional with experience you shouldn't have any damage AT ALL.Q:HOW DO I GET NATURAL LOOKING EXTENSIONS OPPOSED TO HAVING THEM LOOK LIKE I DID THEM MYSELF?A:Totally undetectable extensions would most likely be individual fusion extensions. These should only be done by a professional, have your colorist color select a color or colors, for a perfect match to your hair and of course, use only extensions made with real hair.. While some hairdressers try saving themselves a buck using words like "euroblend" they're really mixing crappier hair with good hair and most likely charging you for the price as if it was all good hair... this happens way to often... While human hair extensions are pricier than synthetic hair, they have many advantages aside from looking realistic, you can also cut, color, and style them, whereas non human hair would tend to get tangled and unmanageable and appear very dry and gross.OH AND IF YOU ARE TOLD YOU HAVE TO FLAT IRON OR CURL YOUR HAIR EVERY DAY TO BLEND IT TO THE EXTENSIONS.. CHANCES ARE YOUR STYLIST DIDN'T PUT ENOUGH PIECES IN.Q: IF MY EXTENSIONS LOOSEN AND FALL OUT, DOES THIS MEAN THEY WEREN'T DONE CORRECTLY?A: Possibly, but most likely No. You will lose pieces here and there that is normal. People with oily hair tend to lose pieces faster than those with average to dry hair. How you handle your hair also play a role in how long they last, limit how often you style your hair, and be gentle with it at all times and when using conditioner remember never put it on your scalp only on the ends of your hair.also using shampoos that are sulfate free are best for extensions (and color clients.)BRAIDED TRACK EXTENSIONS:Q: HOW IS THIS DONE?A:First a very small cornrow braid is created of your own hair and than the weft is sewn onto the braid.Q:HOW MANY OF THESE BRAIDS DO I NEED?A:The number of tracks depends on what the client is looking for. Usually 3 rows is needed for maximum length and thickness. Someone just looking for bulk or thickness, not necessarily length, can wear just 1-2 tracks.Q: DOES IT HURT?A:Braiding and weaving create some tension to your hair and scalp because the track is tight and therefore will pull some. The extensions should be braided firmly but comfortably. The scalp may be tender for a couple of days until the braid loosens slightly. Some clients complain about being uncomfortable and having a brief headache using this system, others have no complaints at all. I do recommend taking asprin prior to having them done if you have a sensitive scalp.Q:HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?A:Braided track extensions can last anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months. I have had some clients that keep theirs in for up to 4 months but I do not recommend it. If they are taken care of properly then they should last about a month and a half on average. If the hair is in good condition after that time passes you should be able to re use them.

International Beauty Show, NYC

March 6-8,2011

This year I had the pleasure of working along side of European Stylists Johnny Almagno and Letizia Mariani at the EuroSoCap USA booth at the annual International Beauty Show in NYC, where we demonstrated one of the newest techniques of extensions. The Cold Fusion Technique allows extension application in a little as 30 minutes for a full head of hair extensions that are completely non detectable and feel so light weight. This machine will be available in the United States this year to EuroSoCap USA certified stylists!
